The pilot began as an effort to expose youth to water education in a hands-on way and with strong emphasis on making connections to the local water resources in their communities. The 4-H Stream Teams Program also includes a strong community service component to help improve those local water resources. This webinar discusses the main elements of the 4-H Stream Teams Program and highlight some of the initial impacts of the program since the pilot began. Also featured is a review of the 2012 Dive Deeper Summit and the 2013 Online 4-H Stream Teams Volunteer Training, both innovative efforts to bring youth water educators and volunteers together and enhance youth water education efforts throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. The presentation concludes with a brief look at the new Watershed Decisions activity available from Penn State Extension. This curriculum leads older youth and adults through the inquiry-based process of designing a plan to improve the water quality in an imaginary small watershed setting.
