Mental Health awareness is such an important factor in knowing how to help those in crisis find the help and care they need.

Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults isĀ an eight-hour training that will teach you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use challenge and help connect them to the appropriate care.Ā This training focus on older adults and aging challenges. The Older Adults module expands upon the effectiveness of the standard Mental Health First Aid for adults curriculum by focusing on addressing the increasing number of aging baby boomers and the growing issue of high rates of late-onset mental health disorders and health conditions. This training will help prepare those individuals working with this vulnerable population to learn how to identify and address mental health challenges and connect them to appropriate services.

Everyone can play an essential role in helping those with mental health or addiction concerns. Participants must complete a two-hour, self-paced, online class before participating in a six-hour, instructor-led virtual or face-to-face training. A certificate will be available online after completion of the course.

Approximately one to two weeks before the first webinar, registrants will receive an email with further instructions on how to complete the participant pre-work.

The course also requires self-completion of Prework and Postwork Assignments. See theĀ AgendaĀ tab for the course timeline and requirements.
