Navigating the Leasing Process of Utility Scale Solar in Pennsylvania: Why Here, Why Now? will cover key topics and a number of other key important issues landowners are currently facing as solar energy production expands across Pennsylvania. Also as part of this session, there will be a short virtual tour to better illustrate what utility scale solar looks like and a close-up view of the technologies being deployed in the state.

This event will answer questions like... What is driving the construction of large solar facilities in the state? Where are they planned? What do companies look for in determining how to site a low-impact solar project? What are the impacts on farmland in Pennsylvania? And what are the first steps to consider if approached by a solar company interested in leasing part or all of your land for utility scale solar?

About the Series

In conjunction with Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Penn State Extension is offering this series on leasing land for utility scale solar in the Commonwealth. As increasing numbers of landowners are being approached to lease their land to be a part of a large solar facility, it is important to understand the implications of the process they will find themselves a part of, after a solar energy company contacts them. This series will explore why utility scale solar is rapidly expanding in Pennsylvania, the overall trends driving this emergence, and the contractual details which will be a part of an option/lease agreement landowners might be offered to sign. There will also be a short immersive virtual tour to better inform participants of what these facilities are comprised of and how to negotiate an outcome that accommodates the landowner's long-term plans.

This event is being offered at no charge to participants. Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar. Registrants will also receive access to the webinar recording.
