Starting and Improving Farms Conference is designed for potential farmers who are interested in learning more about launching your new and beginning farm enterprise. Small and part-time farmers seeking additional information, and existing farmers seeking to increase profitability through diversification or expansion, are invited to attend.

During this two-day conference, we will assist you with your decision to either begin or diversify your farm.
Day 1
- Tour Penn State facilities and farms in the State College area
- Select one of three themed tours including agritourism, horticulture, and livestock enterprises
- Each tour will highlight research at several Penn State facilities
Day 2
- A plenary session covering the business aspects of beginning or diversifying your farm
- Discuss the previous day’s tours and feature speakers from farms on the tour
- Extension specialists and educators will share their operations and work in more detail
- Network with other farmers and educational specialists specific to your area of interest
