The Center for Private Forests at Penn State Renamed to Honor Founder Jim Finley

In April of this year, the James C. Finley Center for Private Forests was officially named.

As partners to the Center for Private Forests, we are pleased to share that in April of this year, Penn State honored Jim Finley's decades working at the intersection of people and forests, recognizing the vital importance of private forests to the ecosystem and society and the capacity of forest landowners and communities to become powerful forces in improving forest health and vitality, by renaming the Center in Jim's honor. All who knew and learned from Jim are gratified by this recognition of his innovative academic scholarship, his deep knowledge of forestry, and his generosity of spirit. The James C. Finley Center for Private Forests at Penn State is committed to honoring Jim by continuing to champion the innovative research methods, practices, and stewardship values to which he dedicated himself throughout his professional life.
