Sponsored by Cornell, Michigan State, and Washington State Universities, this series will cover Honeycrisp crop load management, rootstocks, and nutrient management.

This series is an outgrowth of the Root2Fruit project led by Cornell researcher and frequent Mid-Atlantic Fruit & Vegetable Convention speaker, Lailiang Cheng. Penn State’s Rich Marini was a member of the scientific review committee for the project and says that significant progress was made through this project on understanding bitter pit.

This free series will be facilitated by Bernardita Sallato (WSU), Mario Miranda Sazo (Cornell), and Anna Wallis (MSU) and features researchers, Extension specialists, and growers from New York, Michigan, and Washington. Advance registration is required for each individual event. Links to the WSU Zoom registration page are provided in the schedule below.

Please be aware that these events do not provide PDA pesticide credits. The Virtual Honeycrisp Meetup is an event recommended by (but not directly sponsored by) Penn State Extension to advance your ability to produce exceptional Honeycrisp. The following is the official program description from WSU:

“As a follow-up to the 2021 IFTA Virtual Honeycrisp Tours, these meetings will provide an opportunity to review challenges, best practices, and new recommendations for Honeycrisp production. [It will be] led by a panel of scientists and growers across regions involved in the USDA-SCRI Root2Fruit project and leading Honeycrisp producers.”
