Weather Outlook for the Week of November 29, 2022

As the seasons transition from meteorological fall to winter, an active weather pattern with swings in temperatures will highlight the next several days.

Wednesday will feature dissipating lake-effect snow showers in northwestern PA with a mix of sun and clouds and breezy conditions elsewhere across the state. Temperatures will be below average for the middle of the week with lows dropping into the upper teens to upper 20's on Thursday morning and struggling to reach the 40's by afternoon for much of the state. A quick-moving disturbance may lead to a few snow showers late Thursday into early Friday over far northern PA but the rest of the state will see mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will rise to above seasonal levels by Saturday as a front crosses the state during the day with rain showers changing to snow showers as colder air enters the region later in the day.  A brief break in the precipitation will arrive for Sunday before another developing low arrives for the start of next week. Widespread rain showers and periods of rain will develop on Monday and Tuesday with temperatures slightly above average before a front brings colder air back into the state later Tuesday into Wednesday, changing any remaining rain to snow. Total rainfall (or melted snow) will range between one and two inches for much of the state over the next seven days.  Long-range guidance indicates near normal temperatures and precipitation totals through the end of the year.
